Nandai-mon Gate of Todai-ji Temple

This is the main entrance of Todai-ji Temple which stands straight in front of the main temple building. Present gate was reconstructed in the Kamakura period (1192-1333) and this is one of the few architecture examples of Tenjiku-style left today. Statues of massive and dynamic Kongo Rikishi, Agyo and Ungyo are outstanding.
